Import your existing clients
Bring your client list, appointments, notes, gift cards, and memberships over from your old software in one paste. The import matches people by email or phone, so running it never creates duplicates.
Who can do this: Owner or Admin.
Before you start
Export your data from your old system. The import reads one JSON file, and the expected shape is shown right on the import page.
Run the import
- In the left sidebar, click Settings, then open the Import tab.
- On the Bring your clients over card, click See the sample format and check your export matches it.
- Paste your file's contents into the Import JSON box.
- Click Run import.
- When it finishes, an Import finished summary lists exactly what came in, and which rows were skipped and why.
Example. Golden Coast pastes the export from their old booking system: 412 clients, 96 future appointments, 18 gift cards. The summary shows 412 clients in (9 matched to people already in Lime Papaya and enriched), 93 bookings placed, and 3 skipped because those times were already taken on the calendar.

Common questions
- Is it safe to run twice? Yes. Clients are matched by email or phone and enriched, never duplicated. Re-running the same file is fine.
- Some bookings didn't come over? Bookings that clash with something already on the calendar are skipped, each with a reason in the summary.
- Will imported memberships get billed? Not on arrival. Their next billing cycle starts fresh here.
- What's the money format? Cents. 5000 in the file means $50.
- My file won't parse? Match the sample format exactly. For a working reference, go to Settings and use Download everything on the Export your data card; the export uses the same format the import reads.
Good to know
- Existing clients get enriched, not overwritten into duplicates, so you can import in batches as you clean up your old data.
- The export mirror means you can test with your own data: export, edit, re-import.
