Move stock between locations
Two locations means product migrates: the beach studio runs dry while downtown sits on a case. Here's the honest way to record a move today.
Who can do this: inventory rights (Owner, Admin, or Manager).
Record a move with two Sets
- Physically move the product.
- In the left sidebar, click Inventory and find the product's card.
- At the sending location, type the new (lower) count and click Set.
- At the receiving location, type the new (higher) count and click Set.
Both shelves now read true, which is the entire goal.
Example. Venice is down to 1 bottle of sunscreen; Santa Monica has 9. The manager drives two bottles over, sets Santa Monica to 7 and Venice to 3, and Venice's Low tag clears.
Common questions
- Is there a transfer button? Not in the screens today. A dedicated transfer exists for connected tools through the API, which keeps a from/to record; in the app, the two-Set move above is the everyday path.
- What if I forget one side? The counts drift from reality, which defeats the counting. Do both Sets while the product's in your hand.
- Does a move change any money? No. Counts are operational; nothing is bought or sold by moving it.
- How do I see a history of moves? The app doesn't show a movement log today. If an audit trail matters for your business, the API transfer is the recorded version.
Good to know
- Chronic one-way moves are a purchasing signal: the receiving location's own order should grow.
- Count drift between locations is almost always a forgotten second Set, not theft.
