Redeem a gift card
A client hands you a code; you check them out against it. Redeeming is one extra field at checkout, and the balance does the bookkeeping.
Who can do this: whoever runs checkout (Owner, Admin, Manager, or Front desk).
Redeem at checkout
- Open the appointment and find the Take payment card.
- Set Method to Gift card.
- Enter the Gift card code (GC-XXXX-XXXX).
- Click the Take button. The service total draws down the card's balance, and the appointment shows Paid with Gift card as the method.
Example. Sarah's sister books a $120 facial and brings her $200 gift card. The desk picks Gift card, enters the code, clicks Take $120, and the card has $80 left for next time.
Common questions
- The balance doesn't cover the visit? A payment is one method today. If the card can't cover the whole total, take the visit on another method and save the gift card for a visit it covers, or split the work into appointments it can cover.
- Can they tip on a gift card? No; gift cards pay for services. Take the tip in cash.
- Where do I check a balance? On the record of the client who bought it, under Gift cards. The remaining balance sits next to the code.
- Can a gift card pay a booking deposit? Yes, online at booking, when it covers the whole deposit.
Good to know
- Refunding a gift-card payment puts the money back on the gift card, not onto a bank card. Clean and instant.
- Codes work at any of your locations, so a card bought downtown redeems at the beach location without ceremony.
